Capen Hill is located on 56 Capen Road, Charlton, MA.
Heading West in Charlton on Route 20, Capen Road is located on the left approx. 1/2 mile after the junction of Route 169. You will see our "old" sign, Capen Hill Bird Sanctuary. This road is also right before the Charlton Chinese Takeout, also on the left. If coming from Sturbridge heading East on Route 20, Capen Road is approx. 5 miles from Old Sturbridge Village on the right hand side. It is right after the car dealorship located on the left and Charlton Chinese Takeout on the right. Once heading down Capen Road you will pass an old antigue barn on the left. Continue to the very end of the road and park in our visitor center parking lot. Another trail parking area is down on the left before you go by the barn. Once at the visitor center parking area feel free to enter the buidling and grab a trail map on the wall to your right. If the center is open feel free to walk around and see our animal residents, check out our gift shop and library, rock collection and displays. Feel free to ask our friendly staff any questions. Trails are open from dawn until dusk. Being a sanctuary we do not allow dogs for the safety of our wildlife. Sorry. Feel free though to walk, jog, crosscountry ski on our trails or snowshoe. No motorized vehicles. Have an enjoyable day!
